Senior Software Engineer - Backend & Infrastructure LeadLocation: Remote

Compensation: $120,000 - $130,000 base salary, potential for growth to $160,000

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing tech company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Backend & Infrastructure Lead to join their team. This role is critical in scaling backend systems, optimizing infrastructure, and mentoring team members to drive technical excellence. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to contribute to a fast-paced startup environment while taking ownership of key system components.

This position will initially focus on hands-on development and troubleshooting but has the potential to grow into a Director of Engineering role based on performance and company milestones.

What You’ll Do:

  • Backend Development & System Architecture: Design, develop, and optimize backend services using Node.js, with a focus on scalable architecture.
  • API Development & Integration: Build and maintain RESTful APIs with OAuth integration for third-party services (Google, Zoom, Salesforce, etc.).
  • Database Management: Manage MongoDB instances, ensuring high availability, query optimization, and data integrity.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Work with Google Cloud services (Compute Engine, CloudRun, VertexAI, BigQuery) to enhance system performance and security.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement cybersecurity best practices, including JWT authentication/authorization and compliance management using security tools.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Oversee deployment pipelines with Docker, Jenkins, and GitHub, ensuring robust development workflows.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Guide and support developers, fostering technical growth and ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Issue Resolution & Troubleshooting: Work closely with internal teams to resolve bugs, improve performance, and enhance overall system reliability.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Backend or Full Stack Software Engineer.
  • Strong expertise in Node.js for API development and system design.
  • Database management experience with MongoDB, including performance optimization.
  • Proficiency with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and experience in cloud-native application development.
  • Security experience, including JWT authentication, compliance tools, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization tools such as Docker and Jenkins.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a "player-coach" mindset, comfortable mentoring team members while staying hands-on with development.
  • Bonus: Experience with front-end frameworks (React/Angular), C#, C++, Java, or working with Electron applications.
  • Bonus: Experience integrating with VoIP systems (Five9, RingCentral, Zoom, etc.).
